The Club and Ground had a good bowling but very poor batting side . As Mr. G. Kemp's 46 was the highest total in the Univer- sity innings of 205, the batting was very even , and this success they followed up b ygetting rid of M.C.C. for 102. W h e nthe Club followed on, however, the Cambridge fielding was very loose , and they threw so manychances awaythat the Clubhadscored 315 for seven wickets whenrain put an end to the game. After three days of very even cricket Yorkshire was able to avenge its defeat at the handsof the Club at Lord's at the commencementof the season. Losing seven wickets for 53, it was left to the tail to save the follow on, and thanks to a finely hit 48 not out from Mr. C. I. Thornton, and 23 from Mr. H. W. Forster , this was done with 17 runs to spare . Yorkshire collapsed for 100 runs at their second attempt , but as the Club, whentheir turn cameto bat, failed to reach that numberby eight , Yorkshire w o nby 60 runs .
