Avery good fast bowler ; fair bat, and quick run-getter ; unfortunately not able to play muchlast y e a r. ROPER, E. (Clifton ). Agood bat , and fair change bowler . KOYLE, Rev. V. (Rossall and Oxford ). Is still a good bat , and scores fast when set; splendid field at cover -point ; plays little first -class cricket now. STEEL , A. G. (Marlborough and Cambridge ) . An excellent all -round cricketer ; a first -class batsman; good medium-pace bowler, and safe field ; does not playmuchfirst -class cricket now. STEEL, E. E. (Marlborough ). A nexcellent batsman , and good medium-pace bowler ; bowled well against Surrey at the Oval .. STEEL, H. B. (Up)( pinghamand Cambridge). A very heavy hitter , and seldom leaves the wicket without scoring . W a snot able to play muchlast year. TEGGIN , A. (Longsight ). A very fair bat, and good slow round-arm bowler , breaking in fromthe leg. M I D D L E S E X . BRYANT, H. W. A good wicket -keeper , very quick at stumping , and likely to becomequite first -rate ; a fair hitter . BUCKLAND, E. H. (Marlborough and Oxford ). Avery good all -round cricketer , being a dangerous bat, useful bowler, andsmart field . DAUGLISH, M. J. (Harrow and Cambridge). A fair wicket -keeper, improving bat, and capital field . FORD, F. G. J. (Repton and Cambridge ). Another of the " tall " family . Slow left-handbowler ; a fine hitter , particularly to fast bowling ; a good field , though rather slack sometimes . H A D O W, E. M. (Harrow). A goodbat, with great hitting powers ; fair change bowler (fast ) ; has improved immensely in fielding . JOHNSTONE, A. S. Asteady bat, and very good field . LYTTELTON , Hon. ALFRED (Eton and Cambridge ). A very fine wicket -keeper , standing well up, and rarely missing a chance ; a very dangerous batsman , having defence as well as hitting powers ; only played once last year. O'BRIEN, T. C. (Oxford). A very dangerous batsman, scoring very fast when set ; wasvery successful last year; good field . ROBERTSON, J. A useful fast bowler ; always accurate , and very dangerous whenthe wicket helps him at all ; muchimproved in fielding ; wasvery use- ful for the County last year. SCOTT , S. W. A thoroughly sound and dependable bat , also hitting well all round; nearly always comes off for the County ; a moderate field . STODDART, A. E. One of the best amateur batsmen, combining power and prettiness in his style ; has no superior as an out-field ; unfortunately stayed in Australia with Shawand Shrewsbury's football team ; can bowl a very goodball . The hero of the longest score on record . (M.C.C. Australian Team, 1887-88 .) STUDD, G. B. (Eton and Cambridge ). Adangerous bat, hitting very freely ; a magnificent field ; in this department has no superiors . (Hon. Ivo Bligh's Australian Team, 1882-83 .) THORNTON, C. I. (Eton and Cambridge) . Still gives an occasional glimpse of his wonderful hitting powers,but never plays for the County. VERNON, G. F. (Rugby) . Hits with great vigour , and scores very fast ; very fine out-field , with a sure pair of hands . (Hon. Ivo Bligh's Australian Team, 1882-83 .) (M.C.C. Australian Team , 1887-88 .) WALKER, J. G. (Loretto and Oxford ). Plays for Middlesex by residence . A sound and careful batsman , and most reliable run -getter , possessing the head and judgment of a veteran ; a safe field at point ; successor to the brilliant P e a r s o n.
