Colegrave (10.11): Has got the making of a good cricketer ; thoughretardedbyhis diminutive size, he showsgood formsometimes; mustbowl slower ; is somewhat slow in the field . R. P. O'Reilly (8.9 ) : Hits hard, but does not play straight enough ; his leg-stroke is much admired , though dangerous ; an irregular field .. G. Prentis (7.12 ): Would make a good bat if he would not lie downwhenplaying ; must be more careful at practice ; a lazy , heavy field , and most uncertain . A. Mitchell : Batted very well, though apt to lose his wicket with a bad stroke ; back-playgood, but mustget his left shoulder well downwhenplaying forward ; bowled well at the end of season with slow break- backs. *M. Napier : Very hard hitter , with original style of batting ; must learn to play forward and stop yorkers ; hard-working field . *G. V. Birks : Improved greatly at the end of the season , and was very useful , but plays forward too much, and might use his strength more; good field . W. Carter : Good slow left -hand bowler , with great break -back; rustic right-handbat, hits hard for his size , but pulls ; good field . D. Carter : Stiff bat ; played someuseful innings ; runs well between wickets ; came out strong as a bowler , and with care will dowell. H. G. Metcalfe : Has all the makings of an excellent bat, but failed through in- variably hitting across ; should try to play a ball occasionally ; good field . F. C. Crowther : Very promising with the bat,but can't hit leg-balls ; useful bowler ,right hand; with somework on and judicious varying of pace ought to be good next year. W. A. Hudson: Played some good innings ; plays forward excellently with a straight bat ; also has a good stroke past point ; miserable field . *N. L. Bigge (9.5 ) : Good, but very uncertain , bat ; did a lot of bowling this year with untiring energy, andwas difficult whenthe wicket helped himat all ; excellent field anywhere . H. W. Keeling (10.2 ) : Apromising cricketer ; plays very straight , and watches the ball closely ; slow in the field , but good catch at short -slip . C. F. Michell (17.2 ): Hard hitter , with plenty of confidence ; often lost his wicket in attempting to pull ; energetic , but uncertain , in the field . B. F. Smith (8) : Bids fair to be a good all-round m a n; bats in good style ; moderate field ; might become a bowler . E. V. White (10) : Asafe catch in any part of the field ; moderate bat; changebowler . H. M. Harford (16) : Arun-getting bat; should learn to keep his right leg still ; slow in the field . H. B.
