Beresford , Captain (30.4 ) : Bowls well on his day ; a fine , free bat, especially strong on the off side ; fields well anywhere ; has madea good captain this season . E .Browning(2.11) : Batsfairly well,butis rather weakinthewrists ; generally holdsthe catches behind the wicket , but lets too manybyes ; does not use his legs enough ; a good field when not at the wicket. H . Bryan(9.1) : A promising cricketer ; bats really well, andis a fair field . C. H. Fagge (3.1) : Bats in excellent form,and is always keen in the field ; ought to makea good m a nlater on. A. C. Hammond(2.3 ) : Has disappointed us; bats in good form atthenets , but will not come off in a match; is very slow between the wickets ; a fair change bowler; fields well anythingwithinhis reach,butdoesnotcover enoughground. *R. E. Lewis (8.5): A very fair bat, withgoodstyle ; bowlswell as a change; alwaysactive in the field . W. H . V. Reade(5.4): Oughtto makea really goodbowler; bats fairly well, but is too fond of playing back and" chopping " at the ball ; fields smartly sometimes ; must practise catching all sorts . *F. Roper (7.11 ) : Bats well at times , but has a badhabit of "playing on," which meansnot timing the ball ; apainstaking field . H. M. Roxby (11.1 ) : Has a happy knack of making runs whenthey are wanted; generally fields well . *H. Sutthery (15.4 ) : Wentto pieces for a time,but has batted well lately ; his forward play is very wooden still ; does not usehis elbowsenough; hits hardandscores quickly w h e nset,butis rather slow in getting to work; bowls slow, with big curl from leg,but muchtoo slow; a fine field in the country . Milner : A very ugly bat, but hits hard, and has fairly good defence ; active in the field , and has done good service as a medium-pace round-arm bowler . C. Ordonez : Poor bat, but sometimes gets runs; uncertain in the field . F. Bowen: A careful , though timid, bat, andnot realized expectations of last year; slow in the field ; a successful change left -hand medium-pace bowler, with break from leg. J. Cullen : Fairly good in the field ; a promising , though weak,bat. E. Langley : Hasa style peculiar to himself ; hits hard, but has little defence ; fair as an out-field . J. Fox: W e a kall round, but is capable of improvement . D. Cope : Sometimes useful as a left- handbowler, but would do well to study pitch more; noidea of defence , but hits hard; should beagoodm a n. F. Cardozo : A nexcellent back-stop ; too muchgiven to slogging , and seldom getsruns. R u t h i nG r a m m a rSchool.-A. J. Jones , Captain (1.4) : Adisappointing bat; plays well andfairly in practice ,but seems utterly at sea in a match; has kept wicket most of the season with afair amountof success . E. D. Williams (8.75) : Prefers hitting to playing ; has madeseveral good scores ; is a smart field at point . D. P. Williams (7.5) : Has proved him- self most useful to the team, both inbatting andbowling ; would make a good bat,but, like his brother , is too muchinclined to hit . W. T. Davies (2.18 ) : A steady bat ; improved much duringtheterm; o nmorethanoneoccasion hassavedtheteamfromdefeat; a fair change bowler, and good field . G. H. Davies (1.64 ) : Active and willing in field ; a good thrower . A. E. Elias (10.71 ) : Stands well up to his wicket , andplays a steady game; would, however, improve both his form and appearance bytaking his coat off ; shows no sign of life in the field . H. L. Wynne(2.42 ): Hasnot muchidea of batting ; madean excellent long -stop . T. H. Jones (1.2 ) :Apromising left -handbat; agood fielder . G. Bellingham (2.6) : Shows good form, butmustlearn to stand upto his wicket. C. Davies(3): Promisesto be ofuse; a good fielder . E. LL. Jones : Shapes well at the wicket . R.
