Hall (7.4) : A good punisher of loose bowling , with great driving powers , though but little defence : a first -class mediumbowler , with break from the leg ; fair field . H. M. Dallas (7.11 ) : Aneat ,but somewhat disappointing , bat, who hardly fulfilled the promise of last year ; a smart and quick field ; canbowl if wanted. N. R. Radcliffe (18): Alively bat, scoring fast in nice style , when once set ; an energetic field , and keeps the wicket well. E. C. Fowler(16.2) : Perhapsthe best bat in the eleven,has gooddefence, a n d plays with great judgment; fair field . C. Lamplough (11.7) : Good, steady bat, with capital defence, andtakingstyle ; good changebowler,but slow in the field . C. P. Lambarde: A hard-hitting bat, but requires more patience ; the best field in the school ; brilliant catch . J. M. Wilcocks (6.11 ) : A promising bat at the beginning of the season , but fell off unac- countably ; hits hard, but is rather too fond of a pull ; good field in the country , and safe catch; mustlearn to bowl . J. H. Thursfield (5.2) : Apainstaking and energetic cricketer in all departmentsof the g a m e; wasunfortunately disabled part of the term; a goodfield any- where; moderate bat. R. E. O. Le Fleming (43.7 ) : Thebest all-round m a nin the team; a splendid bat,and an exceedingly puzzling slow bowler ; his coaching at the nets was greatly appreciated . Mr. C. E. Taylor : Avery powerful hitter , andagood length bowler ; did agreat deal of work at the nets . R. Bocquet (8.2) : Hasim- proved immensely since last year ; safe field at cover -point , though atrifle slow. T. Martin (4.6) : Fair bat whenhe likes to try ; a good medium-pace bowler , and very fair field at point . C. T. Waite (4.9): Wouldbe a good bat if not quite so stiff ; a fair fast bowler , and an ex- ceedingly safe catch in the far-field ; obtained the fielding prize . F. W. Stewart (6.7) : His battingandbowlingwerenotupto last year's form; kept wicket very well in mostmatches. E. W. Chapman(14.7 ) : Hasimproved wonderfully both in batting and bowling ; obtained the average bat and the bowling prize ; good long-stop ; is a bad judge of a run. G.Beley(4.3) : Acareful bat, though rather cramped; fair field at long-on and long-slip . R. H. Bell (6.3) : Will need a great deal of practice if he is to become a bat ; rather weak in the field . Lewthwaite (11.4 ) : Amost patient and painstaking bat ; though muchfreer than last year, his wicket was always a difficult one to get; his own fielding and that of the teamhavemuch improvedonlast year, andinthat andevery other respect he has m a d ehimself an excellent captain. T. North-Eastern County School, Barnard Castle.-Matches played , 11 ; w o n,6; drawn, 1; lost , 4.-A.Barraclough: Improvedrapidly as a bat; cantake the wicket if required . R. A. Copperthwaite : A most energetic and successful captain ; bats prettily and withfreedom; might have put himself on to bowl sometimes ; first -rate long-stop . J. Dyson: Showedexcellent formin batting, and proved a great acquisition to the eleven; very fair field at long-leg, and a good thrower . G. H. Garbutt :Is ahard hitter , and frequently makes runs; goodfield . A. H. Grieveson : Wasdisappointing as a bat; good field , andsafe catch . F .Henderson: Onlyplayed once; should m a k ea useful changebowler. W . Lowes: A capital slow bowler , always keeping agood length ; fields well , but is rather listless . G. S. Nokes : A good all -round cricketer , being the best bat and bowler ; possesses a strong defence , and hits powerfully , especially to leg ; an excellent bowler ,varying both pitch and pace with judgment. J. W. Smith : Kept wicket uniformly well ; bats steadily ; should cultivate the art of punish- ing loose bowling . C. J. Todd: Has a stubborn defence ,with unlimited patience ,but lacks allhitting power; poor field . J. A. York : A very fair bat ; good field when he chooses ; throws extremely well . Rev. J. H.
