Disney (Rossall Eleven , 1873-1874 ; Merton College , Oxford , Eleven , 1875 , 1876 , 1877 ). *Mr. C. A. Coleman (High School , Newcastle , Second Eleven ). A. Ray- bould , Captain : At times batted with care and determination , and when careful , extremely neat, with a pretty cut ; a neat field , and almost perfect long-stop . *B. Johnson : Uncertain asabat in 1888, andfor some matches useless as a bowler, owing to varying his action too m u c h; at times successful in both lines ; a quick and sure field , with an excellent return to the wickets . *S. C. Hingley : Aquick scorer ; excellent field , andfair change bowler . W. Perry : Aslow round -arm bowler ,of untiring patience ; very useful all through the season ; a careful bat, without making manyruns, and safe but not quick field . H. A. Green : Often useful as a bat; an improved but not good field , and fair change bowler. F. S. Coley : Very steady bat; hard-working in the field . C. W. B. Thompson: A steady but stiff and awkwardbat; improving field , and fair change bowler . G .Green : Owing to an accident did not play as m u c has he might have done; a steady bat; capital for a boy at point , and maymakea bowler . J. P. (16) : H a snot such a good average this year as last ,has tried to " slog " more; as a bowler wasex- ceedingly successful at the beginning of the season , bowling rather fast ; has fallen off in the field . E. L. Sale (8.8) : W a sunsuccessful at thecommencementof theseasonwiththebat; hascomeon as a bowler , being very successful in the later matches ; safe field ; captain for 1839. E. Priestley (14.3 ) : Has improved considerably in batting ,being especially strong on the leg-side ; has kept wicket fairly well . W. Sullivan (9.10 ) : Has improved immensely asa bat, thoughhehasa very ugly style ; fair slow bowleronhisday; shouldhavebeentried more. A. H. M. Cox(12.13 ) : Makesruns in a patient style ; cuts well ; often gets wickets whenfirst puton. H .H. Wattsford(10.11) : A somewhatluckybat,buthasmaderunsw h e nwanted; good field atcover-point, with excellent return. A.G. Forbes (9.9) : Pluckybat at a crisis , with capital leg hit ; has greatly improved in the field . F. R. Barker (4) : Poorbat , andnot tobe dependedon; capital field , rarely, if ever, missing a catch. A. Edgell(4) : Moderatebat; is playedfor hisbowling(left hand),but hasnotcomeoff in this department; fair field . S. A. H. Sitwell (4.1) : Feeble bat; safe catch in the long-field . A. J.
