Barwell (Captain ) : Abrillant butuncertain bat ; experienced bad luck during the season ; kept wicket with some success . *E. L. Clapham : Ahard hitter , but scarcely to be depended upon; a good left -hand bowler. F. Street : The best all -round m a nin the team; a beautiful bat, steady bowler, and brilliant field ; will be captain in 1889. R. E. Olivier : A pretty bat; one of the most consistent scorers in the eleven , and a good out-field . *F. G. Oliver : A somewhat erratic bat ; played oneor two good innings ; a fair change bowler. *E. C. Daniel : Rather a too steady bat, too steady to get runs . *E. V. B. Rutherford : Also too steady to get runs; apoor field . *L. C. Paget : Agood slow bowler, perhaps a little too slow ; anindifferent bat and field . P. Armitage : Plays in a nice free style ; im- proved towards the end of the season ; should do well next year . A.E. Balfour : Astylish bat, but not a run-getter ; a poor field ; did not get his colours . C. W .
