Price (1887) : A painstaking captain ; inbatting did not fulfil his last year's promise ; wants more confidence ; a good catch ; can keep wicket . *A. Č. Clapin : Successful slow bowler (left- hand), with natural curl ; frequently bowled fast , without success ; improved his style of batting by careful practice ; an excellent field ; can throw one hundred yards . *G. A. Ellis : Perhaps the most useful manin the team; bowled well all the season ; has good direction , and pace judiciously varied ; whenset , a n excellent bat ; has a tendency to feel for the ball , and court disaster early . T. H . Ll. Fenwick : A useful bat, without strong defence ; makes the ball travel whenhe gets hold of it ; should cultivate a cleaner hit ; can keep wicket ; is a most energetic field , and a simple but successful bowler . P. H. Morres : Promisedwell at the beginning of the season , but got out of form; guards his stumps too carefully with his legs ; fair change bowler, and capital cover -point . H. L. Jacob : A patient batsman , with sound defence , and a good leg hit ; scored consistently ; can makea sharp catch at point , but not a sharp run between the wickets . A. H. Deliné -Radcliffe : A very promising bat ; plays in good style , and cuts hard ; rather susceptible to a slow ; safe catch in the long field . *H. E. Baker : Improved a good deal , and played some useful innings ; his style rather stiff ; a good long -leg . C. D. Baker: Apromising left -hand bowler , with puzzling action ; bowled well through the season without much luck ; delivers theball moreeasily than he picks it up; not quite at homewith a bat as yet. E.Dixon : Should makea good bat with more strength and confidence ; moves slowly in the field . *H. C. Bryant : Frames well, but forgets to watch the bowler's arm; a hard-working field .
