Marriott (1885-8 ) : Has captained the team with great success this year ; is a very good and reliable bat , seldom failing to score ; a good mediumbowler, anda good field . *F. V. Heath (1885-8 ) : The most successful slow bowler Rossall has ever had ; bowls with an easy action and good pitch ; a pretty bat, and good field . *P. Higson (1887-8 ) : Agood and very steady bat , and a very sure long-field . T. Hughes (1887-8 ) : As a bowler has rather disappointed us, at times seems to have lost his pitch altogether ; a moderate bat, and fair field . H. A. Hutton (1887-8 ) : Is a good bat , but has had rather badluck ; has kept wicket well ; a fair bowler at times . B. Lorrimer (1887-8 ) : Amagnificent cover -point , almost another Vernon Royle ; bats well at times ; a fair change bowler . J. C. Mallam (1887-8 ) : Batted well at the begin- ning of the season , but fell off a little towards the end ; a fair field . H. E. Marriott (1888 ) : A good , steady bowler , with a good pitch ; a very fair bat, and good field ; ought to be very useful next year . C. J. H. Barr (1888 ) : A splendid field , very seldom lets anything pass ; a useful bat, but rather uncertain in for- ward play . *H. N. Lowndes (1888 ) : Agood , steady bat , seldom failing to score ; cuts nicely , but hardly makes enough of his reach ; a good field . T. A. Higson (1888) : Came on very well towards the end of the season ; ought to make a splendid bat ; avery fair field . R U G B YS C H O O L , Captain for 1888 , A. W. Dixon. Resultsof M a t c h e s .
