Palairet (Capt.) : O n his daya really good bat , but the wet wickets were all against him ; much improved in bowling and fielding ; keen cricketer , and with a little more experience will make a good captain (captain for 1889 ) . *A. B. Burney: Scored well in the school matches , and throughout the season was a most useful all -round m a nto the team. *L. H . Lister : At times showed glimpses of his old form behind the sticks , but was neither so safe nor so brilliant as in 1887. *R. L. Marshall : A clever bowler, w h osends down a " beauty" now and then ; very fair field , and improved bat. *G. Schwind : Occasionally made some good hits , but was not to be depended on ; showy bat ; unreliable cover-point . *P. J. Arnall : Bowled steadily and well throughout ; slow and unsafe in the field ; knocked up runs sometimes just whenthey were wanted. *R. G. Tomlinson : Thoroughly useful cricketer ; run -getting bat ; eccentric bowler , and trustworthy field . R. C. N. Palairet : Played some capital innings ; rather shaky at first , but whenset shows very good form ; fielded really well , and brought off some good catches . C. B. Fry: Keeps his bat straight , and is a hard wicket to get ; style terribly cramped ; did well at Malvern , and will probably score more freely on fast wickets ; covers a lot of ground at mid-on, but is apt to drop catches . *F. Schwind : With energy would become a capital all -round cricketer ; " came on wonderfully as the season advanced, and played a dashing innings against Uppingham. *L. S. Salt : Promised well , but did not improve ; made some fine catches " in the country ." Opponents. R O S S A L LS C H O O L . Captain for 1888 , H. H. Marriott . Resultso f M a t c h e s.
