1 4 8 LILLYWHITE'SCRICKETERS' A N N U A L. ETONELEVENIN 1888. -II. R. Bromley Davenport : Hasnot had nearly such success with the ball , owing to the dead grounds , which do not suit him, but his bowling is still a fact ; a very useful and improving batsman. Hon. M . G. Tollemache : Verydisappointing as a bat ; still has fine off -strokes , but will not stand steady , and so fails to score ; very good point , and occasionally bowls. F. R. H . Bathurst: Verysteady and useful underhandbowler; bats in fair style , but with paltry results ; very slow field . H. W. Studd : Bids fair to be first -rate with the bat, and is already a most useful fast bowler ; ought to be a tower of strength to the eleven . *C. Yate -Lee : Avery powerful hitter , and has been of the utmost service to the team; good out-field and thrower ; uncertain catch . * W. S. Gosling : One of the almost extinct species of first -rate fields- m e nat cover -point ; muchimproved as abat, but lacks punish ; can bowl. R. T. Jones : Has a capital defence , and is improving ; very respectable medium- pace bowler. Hon. R. A. Ward: A bumpyand erratic fast bowler, but has a good action , and will improve ; is coming on well with the bat. *C. K. Pechell : A nincredibly slow bowler , effective against nervous and untutored players , and them only . *F. E. Goad : A fair bat ; moderate field . *E. T.
