C. Streatfeild (Captain ) : A first -class bowler , using his head well , getting a lot of work on the ball , with considerable variation of pace ; a very straight and hard-hitting bat, with strong defence ; a most energetic and painstaking captain , and has well deserved his success . *R. Gatehouse : Batted well at beginning of season , but fell off unaccountably later ; generally a good field and catch ; has occasionally bowled well ; should play morefor his side . *H. C. Price : Has improved immensely ; hits splendidly when set , rarely letting off a loose ball ; greatly improved field . *C. M.Rayner : Has bowled very steadily , generally keeping a good length and working in a bit from leg ; fair bat, and smart field . *A. Foster : Fair bat, but rather disappointing , probably from being very nervous at starting ; good catch , but slovenly ground field . *Prince Albert : Has occasionally batted well, but should play harder ; very poor field . D. Crossman : Bats in nice free style , but is too anxious to make runs whenhe first goes in ; an improving and painstaking field . *W. E. Gilliat : A fair wicket -keep, keeping downthe extras well ; should practise stumping more ; a useful though somewhat cramped bat ; splendid field . *W. F. H. Stanbrough : Plays very steadily , staying in a long time for his runs ; good and careful field ; can bowl a bit , but should remember that a slow bowler mustnot bowl short . *E. F. Halsted : A poor bat, muchhandicapped by shortsightedness ; has fielded very fairly at point ; can also bowl a little . G. H. Woodbridge : Oughtto makea very useful left -hand bowler, but must learn not to bowl so short ; a good field ; likely to improve in batting . C H E L T E N H A M C O L L E G E . Captain for 1888 , H.
