James Lillywhite's Cricketers' Annual 1889
P R E F A C E . THE cricket world has seen manyimportant changes during the seventeen years that have elapsed since JAMES LILLYWHITE'S ANNUAL first saw the light . The frequent interchange of visits between the players of Great Britain and her dependencies has caused new developments during the last decade , tending to extend the cos- mopolitan character of our national game. As the sport itself has increased , so the ANNUAL, which has , from its institution , been the recog- nized mouthpiece of cricketers , has increased its sphere of utility , as well as multiplied the number of its readers , making its wayto the most remote corners of the globe . Fully appreciating the generous sym- pathy they have met with from the first , it will be the aim of its promoters to add to its completeness with each succeeding year. Anything likely to be of general interest will be heartily welcomed , and the cordial co-operation of secretaries of clubs is respectfully invited . Forms for the insertion of statistics , which will be gladly received , can be obtained at any time on application to the Proprietors , at 2, 4, and 6, Newington Causeway, London, S.E.
