G L O U C E S T E R S H I R E . OFFICERS FOR 1887.-President , Dukeof Beaufort , K.G. Vice -President , Lord Fitzhardinge . Treasurer , W. H. Harford . Captain , W.G. Grace . Secretary , E. M. Grace. Committee , H. W . Beloe , J. A. Bush, S. H. Brookes , Henry Grace, William Henry Miles , R. Fenton Miles , T. G. Matthews, Rev. C. H. Ridding, F. Townsend, J. A. Ware, Capt. J. S. Warren, G. Norman, W . D. L. Macpherson, Colonel A. H. Versturme, E. J. Taylor, E. A. Harvey, E. B. Haygarth, and E. G. Clarke . In spite of the generally brilliant batting shownby Mr. W. G. Grace, Glou- cestershire's record was disappointing and unsatisfactory . Mr. Pullen reap- peared in the eleven with gratifying results , and the batting was, when the full strength of the county was in the field , as was only the case in the later matches, at times u p to the best standard of Gloucestershire. In the earlier fixtures Mr. W. G. Grace was badly supported , and the bowling , at the best not formidable , was further weakened by the absence of Woofand Mr. H. V. Page. A new fast bowler namedRoberts was tried in the later matches, and on several occasions with distinct success . Thebowling, though , will have to be considerably strengthened before Gloucestershire can hope to regain the high position it occupied some ten years ago. R e s u l t sof M a t c h e s.
