Played for the Gentlemen against the Players at Lord's last year. DOBELL, P. (Cambridge ). Ayoung and improving player ; bats in good form , andfields well. ECCLES , J. An invaluable addition to the County ; an excellent bat, and good field. ECCLES H. (Uppingham). Agood bat, and excellent field . HAIGH, C. H. Agood batsman and field ; drives and hits to leg well. HILDYARD, L. D. (Oxford University ). A good bat, and capital field at point . It is to be regretted that he cannot find time to assist his County. HORNBY, A. N. (Harrow). Is still as energetic and painstaking as ever ; played some fine innings last season , and as usual proved himself an invaluable captain. JOWETT, G. Agood bat, plays in good form, and will no doubt prove of great service to his County; good field . KEMBLE, A. T. (Cheltenham). Agood bat, and capital wicket -keeper . KEMP, G. (Shrewsbury and Cambridge ). An excellent batsman ; bats in a very good form , his wrist play being particularly fine . Does not play so often as couldb ew i s h e d. LANCASHIRE , O. P. (Rossall and Cambridge ). A keen and hard -working cricketer ; plays in good form, and drives well to the off ; good field . LEIGH, J. (Preston). A very promising cricketer ; good bat and field , and will n odoubtbe heardof to advantage. ROPER, E. (Clifton ) . Agood bat, and fair change bowler . ROYLE, Rev. V. (Rossall and Oxford ). Does not assist his County so much as formerly ; is still a good bat , and scores fast when set ; splendid field at cover-point. STEEL, A. G. (Marlborough and Cambridge). A n excellent all-round cricketer ; a first -class batsman ; good medium-pace bowler , and safe field . It is to be regretted that his services are seldom available for his County. Only played once last year. STEEL, E. E. (Marlborough). A nexcellent batsman, and good medium-pace bowler. Didnot piay for the County. STEEL, H. B. (Uppinghamand Cambridge). A very heavyhitter , and seldom leaves the wicket without scoring . W a snot able to play muchlast year. TEGGIN, A. (Longsight ). A very fair bat, and good slow round-arm bowler, breakingin fromthe leg. TRAFFORD, EDMUNDDE. A nexcellent bat, and fair change bowler. Played some good innings for M.C.C. last season . M I D D L E S E X . BUCKLAND, E. H. (Marlborough and Oxford ). Avery good all -round cricketer , being a dangerous bat, useful bowler, and smart field . DAUGLISH , M. J. (Harrow and Cambridge ). An excellent wicket -keeper , im- proving bat, and capital field . FORD, F. G. J. (Repton and Cambridge). Another of the " tall " family . Slow left -handbowler, and very fair bat; should be heard of at Cambridge. HADOW, E. M. (Harrow) . A good bat , with considerable hitting powers ; fair change bowler (fast ), but indifferent field . JOHNSTONE, A. S. Asteady bat, and very good field . LYTTELTON , Hon. ALFRED (Eton and Cambridge ). A very fine wicket -keeper , standing well up, and rarely missing a chance ; a very dangerous batsman, havingdefence as well as hitting powers; only played once last year.
