Rowe(Capt.): A nexcellent bat, although rather impatient for run-getting at the start ; a good slow bowler , with a nice break , and dashing cover -point ; captained the team with good judgment . T. R. Dawes : Has an excellent average of 22, the best of the team, also the only score over 50; his untiring defence served the team in good stead ; a good field at point,andcan bowl a little . * J. R. Evans: Thebest bowler the college has produced-fast right ,with plenty of break ; accomplished some marvellous performances , and onmore than oneoccasion wonthe match for U.C.W. * T. L. Hinchco : A careful left -hand bat, played s o m evaluable innings; bowlsfast left with somesuccess ; a lazyfield. * D. E. Evans: H a s entirely lost his bowlingpowersof 1886, but playedsomegoodinnings; a capital field . H. D. Moseley: Did not come off well , although he seems to have entirely forsaken his hitting tactics of 1886; a moderate field . E. F. Thomas : A good wicket -keeper , but cannot bat. * J. D. Jenkins : Agood bat, and medium-pace bowler ; most successful in latter department ; a sure catch . * J. H. Farmer : A moderate batsman, and good out-field ; bowls fast right ,but not very straight . * T. Young : A fair , but very unlucky bat ; best manin the team in the "country." Hopkins (9.2) : Not so sure a bat as last year, but generally safe for a few runs; has wonderfully developed in bowling ; a brilliant field anywhere . A. C.
