Ladell (7.5): Avery good andstraight bat,often going in first andrarely failing to score ; a very safe field anywhere. Mr. C. J. B. Marriott(16.3): T h ebest bat in the eleven, with clean and harddriving powers ; has shown great kindness in coaching the team at the nets ; a safe but rather slow field at long-onandthird m a n. G. R. Lannowe(19.5) : Undoubtedlythe best bat a m o n g the boys, but liable to hit too soon; heads the batting list easily ; he also obtained a bat for his splendid 65 in Past and Present match; a good medium-pace bowler , was rather loose at the beginning of the season ,but improved immensely towards the end. Martin (8.2): A fair bat, strong on the leg side , but rather apt to hit across the ball ; a good medium- pace bowler , taking the bowling prize ; a very clean field at point , but rather slow ; good throw in. (Colours , 1887. ) R. Bocquet (5.5 ) : A very patient and steady bat, but must play more sharply ; cuts well ; fair bowler , with good length ; good field at cover . (Colours , 1887. ) F. Stewart (8.4) : First -rate bat,having a pretty style ; successful fast bowler , and improving wicket -keeper . (Colours , 1887. ) C. Waite (3.4 ) : His batting is not what was expected , but his bowling was muchbetter ; a safe catch in the far field . (Colours , 1887. ) E. Lannowe (2.4 ) : Hasan ugly style of batting , though often making runs ; fair fast bowler and field . (Colours , 1887.) B. Lannowe(4.6): Exceedingly pretty and straight bat, keeping up his wickets well ; hasplayed one or two splendid innings with good form ; fields at mid-on. (Colours , 1887. ) E. Chapman(2.1) : Avery promising bowler ,having a difficult length and action to face at times ; asabat he must learn to play forward muchmore ; good long -stop . T. Lethwaite , Captain (5.8): Avery steady and straight bat, also hits hard at times ; bowls a good length , andwas fre- quently very successful with the ball ; madea very good captain , never being afraid to change thebowling. Hand- sombody : Acapital bat, rather inclined to hit too freely ,but a severe punisher of loose bowling ; has anexcellent average of 33, and once topped the century ; a good medium-pace bowler , with deceptive action , and a grand field anywhere . Mr. E. W. Clark : Amoderate bat owing to defec- tive sight , but good fast bowler , with a leg break. Ll. Shone : Acapital bat, with double -figure average , and once exceeded the half century ; good field ; took prize bat. G. E. Davis : Not muchstyle ,but generally makes runs ; a low field . F. C. Hudson: Adisappointing bat,but excellent medium-pace bowler ,keeping a good length ; captured 50 wickets at a cost of 3 runs each; took prize ball . J. James : One of the best bats in the team, and should develop into a good player ; shows excellent style , and bowls well , gaining top average , although he only trundledin a fewmatches. R. R. Marshall: Afair bat, andbowledwell onseveral occasions ; goodfield . J. D. R. Munro : A nimproving bat, and fair field . R. Shaw : Apoor bat, andnot very energetic field . T. G. Littleboy : Adisappointing bat, and quite failed to come off . E.P. S. Benson: H a snot got m u c hstyle ; fair field . Norfolk CountySchool.-THEELEVEN IN 1887. -Captain , E. F. Harwood ; Hon. Sec., W. K. Syson.-Matches played , 11 ; won, 8 ; lost , 3.-The bowling and fielding of the elevenhavebeen quite equal to the average standard; but someeffort should be m a d eto raise the scores a little higher , at least on the school side . The season has been successful , but the batting has not been the principal factor in gaining the victories . W. P. Thomas (15.9 ) : A fairly goodbat, though his best scores have not always been creditable ; an excellent field , and certain catch . J. L. Entwistle (10) : An excellent batsman, but seriously handicapped during part of the season by an injured hand; fields well at point . H. T. Shaw(11) : Acareful bats- m a n, tedious to watch; good change bowler , and fine field , throwing in well . L. P. Tomlinson (8.7): Has muchimproved as a bat, though occasionally lacks confidence ; has not madeso good a long -stop as last year. W. G. Brown (5.4) : Lacks patience in batting , and slogs too m u c h; a first -rate field . F. Gregory (4.9 ) : A useful companion for a hard-hitting batsman; slow in the field . E. Withers (4.6 ): Shockingly careless for a batsman; a wonderfully good wicket -keeper . E. W. Pope (4.6 ): Deteriorated in batting ; bowls with dangerous break from the leg; agood field anywhere . E. F. Harwood(4.3 ) : Has captained the team with care ; unfor- tunate with the bat, though at times he showed some good off -side play ; fields well at cover- point . J. Murray(4) : Hasmuchimproved in batting ; aneat field . J. A. Slater (2.8 ) : Has fallen off most unaccountably in batting ; an excellent bowler , and moderate field . J.
