Crump(27.1 ): Batted consistently well throughout the season ; good field , and fair lob bowler . F. A. B. Fletcher (29.12 ) : Top average , batting and bowling ; hard-hitting left -handed bat, and good medium-pace bowler , coming in from leg . C. H. Stronts (11): The stonewaller of the eleven ; has unlimited patience , andkeeps up his wicket against any bowling ; splendid point , and can keep wicket . F. M. Y. Nepean (5.6): Good bat, with style of his own; very good fast bowler , and an excellent cover -point . R. G. C. Manley (3.3 ) : Poor bat; fair field , and good change bowler . R. H. Manley(5.5): A stylish bat, butmustget over his nervousness; goodchangebowler, and fair field . H. H. Sheehan(2) : Very steady bat, generally to be relied on for runs; a most wretchedfield . W . J. Disney (28.8 ): Bowled effectively at times ; nervous bat, likely to get out in the first few overs ; if he survives them, hits hard and scores quickly ; uncertain field . Mr. C. A. Coleman (5.6 ) : Hits hard at times , but too fond of trying to pull from the leg stump; a hard-working field . Mr. W. F. Hodge(5) : A hard hitter whenset ; fair catch, butin the field wants energy. E. H. Grove(6.3) : Long-stop in 1885and1886, but notneededthere in 1887;fielded splendidly , andwasworthhis place for this alone; improved wonderfully in his batting in the last month, and scored 50 in his last innings for the school . J. A. Hingley(10.1) : Improvedwonderfullyinhis style of batting,gave uphis old slogging to the on, andmadeall his runs by cuts and off-drives ; if he could hit to leg would be a good bat ; fair fast bowler, with spin from the off, but mustnot vary his style too much. A. E. Mason (4): Steady bat, but wants confidence and hitting power; a sure catch , and an ardent , energetic , and excellent field at cover -point-the best field the school has ever had. A. T. Butler (3.3) : Steady bat, with pretty style , his careful defence saving more than one match; an improved , but still uncertain field . C. B. Turner (8.6 ) : Hits hard to the on, but wildly ; fair point , but not so sure as in 1886. A. Raybould (1.4 ): Long-stopped really well , only allowing 63 byes against 203 given by opponents ; is a neat and useful field anywhere , but lost all his batting form. B. Johnson (5.4 ) : Ayoung player , and the most promising of the team; as a bat , has good style , and only wants experience in matches ; as a bowler , straight , with excellent length , and has not overbowled himself ; somewhat slow in the field , but improving , anda good catch , S. C. Hingley (2.1 ) ; Afair bat ; slow in the field , but a safe catch ,
