H. H. Taplin (22.11 ) : Avery steady , useful bat, andgoodbowler; did excellent service for the eleven. F. W. Taplin (17.3) : Seemed tohaverecovered muchof his old form in batting , and was a very efficient long-stop . R. M. Latham(12.4 ): Hadagain a higher batting average ,but sometimes hit too wildly ; was occa- sionally useful in bowling slows . H. S. Potbury (9.7) : Improved very greatly , and showed considerable promise ; played in excellent style . G. C. Collyer (8.12 ): Sometimes appeared nervous , but did good service with bat andball . J. Brown(7.13 ) : Avery fair all -roundplayer . P. D. Butt: Sometimes played very nicely . E. H. Couch (6.4) : Showed good promise, and played steadily . G. P. Searle (8.3 ) : A fair bat and field . G. O. Raven, Captain (47.4 ): Very good bat, playing muchmorecarefully than last year ; good driving and cutting powers ; bowls fast right -hand, very straight , with good length ; fine field and catch , especially out. E. F. Carnegie (15.9 ) : Agoodandvery pretty bat, but too apt to send catches in the slips ; good left -handbowler, coming in a good deal from the leg ; good field , especially at cover -point , and safe catch . G .W. Beck (11.1 ) : Has very muchimproved in his batting , playing very straight this year ; fast and extremely erratic bowler ; good field and catch ; useful manout,as he throws very well . H.F. Freeland (6.2): Poorbat,has one stroke , a drive on the off side ; whenbowling must pitch his balls up to get wickets ; good field , and certain catch. J. C. Vidal(6) : Plays extremelywell, thoughsmall; fair field , but poor catch. R. M . Shepheard(5.6) : H a splayed steadily during the season; a good m a nto go in first ; goodfield at long-on; also is a safe catchat times. H.D o w s o n(5) : H a shadhardluck in havinganinjured kneehalf the season; whenhehas played he has not come up to last year's form; fair change bowler , good long- stop, and very safe catch . L. W. Bennett (4.1 ) : Has very muchimproved in batting ; very goodout-field andcatch . W. Wyllys (18) : Goes in last , but always gets a few runs bychance ; poorfield . W. Farquharson (2.1): Hassome notion of batting ; must get over his nervousness andimprove his fielding if he wants to be any good. P. Robertson (1.6): Apoor bat, moreat h o m ewith slow bowling than fast ; a fair field , but not always a safe catch ; can bowl slows fairly well.
