Sandilands : M a d ean excellent and very unselfish captain ; though at times nervous , an excellent bat , driving and cutting with great power ; was rather unlucky ; a grand field at third man; bowled lobs with some success . P. C. Probyn : Agood bat at times , but rather uncertain ; a fair field , and successful as change bowler (fast round -arm). *C. S. W. Barwell : A n excellent bat, with the highest average of the team ; goodbehind the wicket ; hard hitting on the off brought him most of his figures . A. M. Balfour : A very pretty bat , but very uncertain ; a good bowler , with slight break either way; a poor field . *A. H. Harrison : A grand bat, with splendid forward stroke , very steady , and good cut behind point ; fair in the deep field . H. B. Street : A very safe and useful bat, though not very good style ; could always be depended on; good field , and useful change bowler . J. G. Veitch : Fair bat, with great punishing powers , but poor defence ; good field in the country . E. G. Moon: A nadmirable bowler, with great commandover the ball ; canbreak either way; fair bat, but poor field . A. G. Prothero : A good steady bat, with safe defence ; could bowl a little , and fielded well . G. P. Stevens : Fair bat and bowler, came on towards the end of the season ; poor field . *E. L. Clapham : Afair left -hand bowler ; rather wild bat , and fair field . C.Grant-Wilson : Goodbat, with long reach ; broken leg prevented him from being of anyuse in the field .
