Jackson : Hardhit , whoimproved in his defence towards the end of the term ; agood change bowler ; successful captain ; played well at Lord's . *H. C. Bradby : Our mainstay in batting , having avery fair defence , and excellent hitting powers. *R. A. Wilson : Fast right -hand bowler, whoproved most effective throughout the whole season ; a hard hitter at times . *H. Bowden Smith : A steady bat, with good hitting powers ; an excellent field , but was somewhathindered in his cricket byill -health . A. W. Dixon : Fast right -hand bowler, who, with Wilson, shared the brunt of the bowling ; very fair field ; careful and painstaking bat ; has improved since last season . *W. M. Ratcliff : Oneof our hardest hitters , but scarcely a consistent scorer ; indifferent field . * W. G. Turner : Steady and consistent bat, whodid good service through- out the season ; a very fair change bowler . *A. A. Allen : Acareful bat, with a fair defence; fell off a little at the end of the season; a goodfield . *J. R. Bowden Smith : Stylish bat, but scarcely steady ; a very smart point . *G. Howard: Left -hand batsman, very steady ; a smart field ; kept the wickets well in the M.C.C.matchat Lord's. *D. G. Astley: Battedwell at times, but hardly successful as a wicket -keep. E. F.
