Scott (Eton and Christ Church) : Like Crawley for Cambridge, was only selected at the last moment; is a fine , dashing bat, and a good field ; his second innings in the University match was a particularly fine one. H. O. Whitby (Leaming- ton and Lincoln) : Afast right -handed bowler, very dangerous on his day, not so successful as in former years , probably owingto want of practice ; hits hard, and fields very well . Pember : A hard-hitter , and good bowler at times , but uncertain . E. V. Levinge : Agood field in the country ; as a bat, his leg -hitting is especially good. N. Bonham- Carter : His average speaks for itself . F. G. Newbolt : Did not play frequently enough to allow a fair estimate of his powers. A. W. Watson : Did not play frequently enough to allow a fair estimate of his powers . C. H. Dent: A reliable bowler at all times , and espe- cially on a wet wicket ; less fortunate this year than last in batting ; a good captain in the field . H. Harrison : Afair medium-paced bowler ; his interest in the game is apt to abate at times . C. Leveson - Gower : Avery steady , defen- sive bat, and change bowler.
