Lewis : Wicket-keeper as in previous years , butdid not improve much; often gets runs, but, like anorgan, is fondof cyphering . J. F. W. Little : Captain for 1888 ; a cricketer of few inches , but extremely energetic in the field , and liable to get forty in anymatch; seldom used as a lob bowler . A. W. T. Perowne : A left -handed bat, whocan runvery fast between the wickets ; played some good innings at the end of the season ; fumbles too muchin the field , but is likely to comeon all round. C. H.Evan- Thomas : Wasincapacitated by a bad knee from playing much; bowls well on his day, but seldom does himself justice in batting , though he can hit pretty high. C. R. Mott: A nexcellent captain ; very con- sistent scorer , and steady bat ; smart point, and fair slow change bowler. J. B. Stork : A good fast bowler ; has proved very useful , always getting wickets ; hasnot hadmanyopportunities for batting , but seems to have slightly fallen off . W .R. M. Leake : Has greatly improved in batting , and has been a very con- sistent and steady scorer ; good field . R. H. Wilson : Capital wicket -keeper ; did not score nearly so well as last year , having become rather too reckless . W. C. Moore : Splendid field , and improving bat, hits very hard. E. Harvey : Smart field ; steady bat,but has hadonly a few innings . H. C. Knott : Useful bat, and generally maderuns ; fair field . W .A. R. Young : Capital all -round cricketer ; very good medium(slow) bowler, always keeping agood length ; played some innings ; sure field . L. W. Oliver : Goodfield ; did not bat much. G. H. Knight : Good bat, especially on leg -side ; good field , and fair change bowler .
