T H ECAMBRIDGEELEVENIN 1887.-W. C. Bridgeman (Eton) : A very steady batsman, and good field ; made 162 against Sussex in first -rate form. C. D. Buxton (Harrow) : Did not come up to the expectations formed of him; bats in capital style ; very good field , and fair change bowler. E. Crawley (Harrow) : Played a splendid innings at Lord's v. Oxford ; is a most plucky and painstaking player , and very good field . F. G. J. Ford (Repton) : Goodleft- handedbowler, and very difficult on a dead wicket ; rather uncertain with the bat, but a quick run-getter when set . H. Hale (Australia ) : Ahard-working, all -round cricketer ; very straight bowler with break-back, but the hard, dry grounds were muchagainst him. F. Marchant (Eton) : Played one or two capital innings , but too much on the hit at starting ; first -rate field , and worked hard at his duties as captain . L. Martineau (Uppingham) : Aslow bowler with break-back, and muchimproved in batting ; good all -round m a n. L. Orford (Uppingham) : Kept wicket capitally , and has much improved in batting . A. M. Sutthery (Uppingham) : Thebest all -round m a nin the eleven ; can bowl all day mediumpace with a bit of curl from leg ; a good , reliable batsman , and sure field . F. Thomas (Eton) : A most useful manto the team, as his average of 40 shows ; bats in capital style , and can field anywhere ; bowls lobs . C. Toppin (Private ) : Goodfast bowler, and good field ; did not do so well with the bat as was expected ,
