Inamatchbetween the Surbiton and Oatlands Park Clubs , at Surbiton , on June14, Surbiton were dismissed for 194, and Oatlands Park, whofollowed , for 195. W h e nthe runs cameto be added up, however, it was found that the scorer h a dimproperly credited Oatlands Park with a couple , and this reversed the positions , Surbiton winning by one run. In a match on June5, at Woolwich, between the Royal Artillery and Mr. Fowler's Eleven , Captain Johnson , of the 50thRegiment, whowasplaying for the latter , cut a ball for two runs . His bat wasbound at the bottom with string , which became unravelled to the length of about a yard whenhe was making his two runs . The batsman, in ignorance that the string was loose , cut at the next ball , and the end of the string removed the leg bail . Hewas given out hit wicket .-W. W. Mann, in a Bexley match, played a ball hard on to the wicket which actually went through the stumps withoutdisplacing the bails . In a Dormitory match at Wellington College , B. N. Perkins , the captain of the College eleven , playing for Anglesey, in the first innings of Blucher, bowled a ball which just touched the top of the middle and off stumps. Thoughit knocked them wide apart , the bail was not removed, adhering to the off stump firmly . The batsman was given not out.- OnJune26, playing for Esher Village v. TwickenhamTown, E. W.
