Ross, H. A punishing bat ; plays the gamethoroughly ; seems to have recovered his old form ; quick field . SAINSBURY , E. Agood bat against any bowling , combining the greatest patience with hard hitting ; often very successful as a lob bowler ; painstaking and most energetic captain . TRASK, W. A good bat, and good slow round -arm bowler ; a very keen and painstaking cricketer . WINTER, C. E. A useful fast right -hand bowler ; very good field , and im- proving as a bat. WOODS, S. M. J. (Brighton College ) . His first season , and a great acquisition to the County XI.; a really fine fast right -hand bowler ; a steady bat , and fine field . HEWETT, H. T. (Oxford ). A good bat , making runs fast when set ; a little too fond of running out to slow bowling ; an excellent field . COPESTAKE , J. H. A grand hitter , and only wants a little patience to be a really good bat ; a splendid field anywhere . GLENNIE, R. G. (Oxford ). A punishing bat when set ; excellent field . HEATH, Á. H. (Clifton and Oxford ). Agood bat , playing in perfect style , and very hard on the off side ; a good field . S U R R E Y . BOWDEN , M. P. Plays very straight , and can hit when wanted , but has hardly comeup to expectations formed on his school performances ; a very good field , particularly in the country . BUSH, F. W. A good all-round cricketer ; bowls round-arm slow, and is a useful change ; a good bat, but fell far short of expectations ; wants to be quicker in the field . CATTLEY, S. W. (Eton). Has good defence ; showed a great advance in his fielding , which was very smart ; did not play last year . DOUGLAS, A. P. (Dulwich ). Played in the last two matches of the season , and with success ; a steady bat, and capital field . GAME, W. H. (Sherborne and Oxford ). Abatsman with a style of his own, hits hard, and is very dangerous if allowed to get set ; a fine long -field , witha sharp throw in; plays little first -class cricket now. HORNER, C. E. (Cheltenham and Oxford ). A very useful fast round -arm bowler; moderate bat and field ; only played little last year. LINDSAY , W. (Winchester ). A good bat, with a pretty cut ; a splendid field , and a sure catch ; has not played in first -class cricket of late . READ, W. W. One of the very best batsmen of the day ; plays very straight , and hits all round with great freedom ; played brilliant cricket throughout the summer; a fine field anywhere , and can also keep wicket .
