It is hopedhewill assist his Countynext season. STEEL, H. B. (Uppinghamand Cambridge). A very heavy hitter , and seldom leaves the wicketwithoutscoring. TAYLOR, FRANK(Clifton ). A very steady and neat bat ; a little moredash in his playwouldmakean improvement; bowls slow round-arm. TEGGIN, A. (Longsight ). A very fair bat , and good slow round -arm bowler , breaking in fromthe leg . M I D D L E S E X . COTTRELL, C. E. (Harrow) . A useful bat, scoring freely at times ; bowls fast round, at times effectively ; with more in his ball than most fast bowlers ; did not play muchlast year. DAUGLISH, M. J. (Harrow and Cambridge). A n excellent wicket -keeper , im- proving bat, and capital field ; should be of use to the County. FORD, A. F. J. (Repton and Cambridge). A very useful all -round player ; bowls with very high delivery , and is very effective whenwicket helps in anyway; bats well , and can hit hard ; excellent field at slip ; did not play last year for the County. FORD, W. J. (Reptonand Čambridge). A powerful hitter , greatly excelling in forward drives ; can bowl a little ; has left Englandfor N e wZealand . FORD, F. G. J. (Reptonand Cambridge). Another of the " tall " family . Slow left -handbowler, andvery fair bat ; should be heard of at Cambridge. HADOW, E. M. (Harrow). A good bat , with considerable hitting powers ;; fair change bowler (fast ), but indifferent field . LYTTELTON, Hon. ALFRED(Eton and Cambridge). A very fine wicket -keeper, standing well up, and rarely missing a chance ; a very dangerous batsman, having defence as well as hitting powers ; did not play last year. LYTTELTON, H o n. E. (Eton and Cambridge). A fine free -hitting bat, very dangerous whenwell set ; a good field near the wicket ; plays little first- class cricketn o w. O'BRIEN, T. C. (Oxford). Fine hitter , and at times plays a first -rate innings , but is s o m e w h a tuncertain. PEARSON, T. S. (Rugbyand Oxford). Areliable batsman, rarely failing to get runs, and never relaxes vigilance in the field ; is a thorough cricketer ; has nowgiven up cricket altogether . ROBERTSON, J. A useful fast bowler ; always accurate , and very dangerous whenthe wicket helps him at all ; muchimproved in fielding . SCOTT , S. W. A thoroughly sound and dependable bat, also hitting well all round; nearly always comes off for the County ; a moderate field . STODDART, A. E. Proved himself last year one of the best amateur batsmen, combining power and prettiness in his style ; has no superior as an out -field . Thehero of the longest score on record . STUDD, G. B. (Eton and Cambridge). Adangerous bat, hitting very freely ; a magnificent field ; in this department has no superiors . (Hon. Ivo Bligh's Australian Team, 1882-83 .) THORNTON, C. I. (Eton and Cambridge) . Still gives an occasional glimpse of his wonderful hitting powers , but never plays for the County . VERNON, G. F. (Rugby) . Hits with great vigour , and scores very fast ; very fine out -field ; with a sure pair of hands . (Hon. Ivo Bligh's Australian Team , 1882-83.) W A L K E R, I. D. (Harrow). Has retired from the captaincy with his batting powers little impaired ; fine field , and good lob bowler ; good captain , and excellent judge of the game.
