W .Marsh(23.7) : H a simproveduponlast year's form; agood captain anda nexcellent judge of the game. T. Sankey (62.10 ) : Hadthe highest batting average ever obtained at the school ; a brilliant batsman, having fine defence and great punishing powers ; obtained over 100in four matchesin succession; a mostuseful m e d i u m-pacebowler. W . H. Hill (5.8) : "Neglect of practice " has unfortunately spoilt his cricket average ; is a good bat, with good cutting and off -driving powers ; is a good field anywhere , and a most energetic secretary . A. G. Ball (23.5 ): Hasfully developed the promise of former years ; areally splendid bat ; played very finely against Hertford College -100 (not out); good field anywhere, and has kept the wicketwell. A. L. Harris(18): Acareful bat, with a good average of 18 for theseason; has improved in the field ; took long -stop very fairly . E. K. Collins (6.1 ) : Has fielded well through- outthe season ; a good catch , and works well . H. M. Dexter (5.4 ): Through illness has not donem u c hin the cricket -field , andis therefore lowd o w nin the averages. W . Wells (16.7) : Playswitha very straight bat, a n dtherefore hasa gooddefence; hits well , andpunishes any loose ball ; hewasscarcely upto his formthis season; an excellent field , anda safe catch. F. (17.2 ): Was out of form in the earlier matches, butplayedsomeinvaluable innings, andbatted withhisusual confidence andfinish . H .D. Pitt(12.3): H a dbadluck withthebat, butfielded capitally at point. T. R. Slack(10) : Batspluckily andfreely , butshouldlook moreto his defence; very uncertainfield . J. H.Hey- wood(6.3 ) : Should play a straighter bat and hit less ; poor field . J. H. Taylor (6.2) : Willbe agood bat if he canimprove his hitting powers ; fair field . B. Middleditch (5.5) : Is a correct and patient bat, and we expect more of himnext season ; a most painstaking field . L. H. Sit- well(5.3) : Poorbat, andfields inpoorstyle . E. Hall(4.1) : M a ymakea fair bat; hard-work- ingfield . F. L. Howitt(3.9) : Promisesto batwell withmoreyears; hadbadluck. I nbowling Slack (5.1) was occasionally tried with considerable success ; hasfast round-armstyle . Grist (5.32) bowled in capital form, and with greatly increased pace .
