Read, Captain (16.12 ) : Is the best all-round man of the eleven; a careful , left -handedbat, with good defence , seldom failing to score ; hits well to leg, agood slow (right -arm) bowler , but lacks confidence in himself ; an excellent field . C. М. Henderson (16.14 ): The bowler of the team; has shown great improvement ; bats in good form, isa rapid scorer , but too fond of slogging ; is a fair field anda good catch . F. Gray (11.3): Is the prettiest bat in the eleven , having a strong defence ; he also cuts and drives well; aneat field . C. T. Atkinson (7.9 ) : Is a capital all -round player , though inclined to be care- less inhis batting ; bowls a good ball , but has not been always successful ; a very good field andanexcellent catch . J. R. Nisbet (6.2 ) : A promising cricketer ; kept wicket , at times with success . E.R. Lyon(4.8) : Agood left -handbowler (medium); batting and fielding not good, but has shown great improvement ; wants confidence . A. Little (8.7 ) : A clumsy field and nervous batsman; makes runs when set . A. H. Grierson (4.4 ): Good field and catch any- where; batting weak. E. Fenwick (5.11 ): Stiff bat , with fair amountof confidence ; a slow field ; apt to misjudge acatch . M.Smith (12) : Requires smartness to makea good cricketer ; has proved himself auseful bat. J. Robinson (5.1 ) : Afair bowler , but did not "come off ; " a poor field . C. F. L. Donkin (2.3 ) : Hasbeen useful once or twice as a bowler , but is not up to First Eleven form inbatting andfielding . J. A. T. Fitzherbert (15.1 ) : A really good and pretty bat, having anexceedingly clean hit andneat cut ; agoodfield . N. Comyn(6.2) : A fair bat, very steady ,andslow in making runs; did not score much,but always broke the bowling for the rest ; good catch , but a little slow in the field . Rev. Scott (4.2 ) : Agood bat, but did not score much,his hitting to leg is especially neat ; bowls right , round-arm, fast , is very destructive sometimes; canalso keep wicket . W. Espantoso (6.1 ) : Steady bat, good defence ,but rather tooweakon the leg side ; did not score muchat the beginning , but towards the end of the season wasin his best form; a good field at mid-on. E. Fitzgerald (6.2 ) : Has a peculiar style , rather too fond of making his runs too quick ; good field , but takes his time in throwing theball in. M. Fitzgerald (15.1 ): Goodleft -handbowler ; has been most successful this year both with the bat and ball ; hits well , but has a moderate defence . John McNamara(14.2 ) : Avery good medium bowler , with considerable break from the leg ; was of great use for the team; batswell , andis a goodfield at slip . H. Colegrave(6.4) : A goodbatfor his size ; will becomea good cricketer in time ; will bowl well with practice , and must try to vary his pace ; acapital back-stop . J. Atkins (4.5) : Has improved wonderfully since last year ; is a good punisher of bad bowling , though but moderate defence ; a fair field . P. Espantoso , Capt . (6.1): Fulfilled the duties of captain in a satisfactory manner; did not come off as a bat ; mighthavedonebetter with moreconfidence, but mustlearn to play forward with a more straight bat ; his wicket -keeping has been fair throughout the season .
