C. Curtis (7.11): Apatient , useful bat ; takes great interest in the game. H. J. Kinsman (7.5) : Avery fair bat,with some power of hitting ; often fields well . T. E. Herring (6.1) : W a suseful towards the end of the season as abat, bowler , and field . F. Pollard (5.4): Oneof the best fields in the eleven . L. R. Ashford (5.1) : Afair bat, but was not lucky this season ; could hit . W. C. Vallance (4.11 ): Apatient bat, anduseful as a change bowler . G. W. Harris (4.2 ): Agood field at long-leg or mid-off . H. J. Vine (4.1 ): Very useful in the Second Eleven, and then of service in the First . H. Packer (3.5) : Afair field , of service as long -stop ; played auseful innings in the Old Boys ' Match . F. Douglas : Avery painstaking cricketer ; having lost his nervousness , he has improved all round, his batting being correct ; being agoodjudge of a run, he seldom runs his partner out ; has improved in his fielding . J. Douglas : A splendid , hard-working field ; a pretty bat,having a good style , especially on the off -side ; a good left-hand medium-pace bowler ; should have been bowled oftener . S. H. Fry : Avery hard hitter , but should try and play more correct cricket ; a fair change bowler , but should not depend so muchonbreak as varying pace ; fair field . H. C. W. Mountford: A first -class fast bowler, andsureto makea n a m eas suchif h econtinues cricket ; mustnottry pace, but pitch , as pace is sure to come with age ; improved in fielding . H. C. Moses : Will, with time, turn out a first -class bat,having a splendid andtaking style , but is still too fond of taking liberties with straight balls ; hits well all round, and plays the ball hard; has improved his fielding andgeneral knowledge of the game. E. G. Rand, captain : A first -class bowler , with good break-back, and having a very easy delivery ; was able to keep uphis endwell , but, through anaccident , was unfortunately incapacitated from taking part in matches the latter part of the season ; improved in his fielding , and captained the teamwell, being very popular . H. V. Reed: Avery promising all -round cricketer , being agood, straight , medium-pace bowler, fair bat, but must try and play the ball harder ; fair field . C. F. Skip- with : Wouldbe a good bat if he would only practise correct cricket , andpay attention to the game; a slow anduncertain field , but fair bowler . C. M. Wells : Avery painstaking cricketer , butmustnot forget in batting to play the ball ,andnot let the ball play the bat; afair wicket- keeper . H. G. L. Wyld: A really first -class cricketer , being a good bat; hits splendidly all round, but is still inclined to be slack in playing the ball ; a good change fast bowler , andhas improved in his fielding , especially in the long field ; has again obtained the average with improvedfigures .
