Prendergast : Proved a most efficient captain , and the success of the team is largely due to him; a sound and painstaking bat; brilliant field at point , and safe catch . M. H. Toller : Batted in excellent style all the season , anddidgoodservice with the ball, thoughheis inclined to be sulky anderratic at times; must bewareof becoming careless ; plays for his county . C. W. Gooch: Has several times helped theteambylong scoring ; a brilliant deep field , and safe catch ; an excellent change bowler. A. S. Page: Maydevelop into a good bat if he will take pains and practise more; at present he lacks vigour ; very slack , and most feeble in the field . G. O. Wood: Has not fulfilled the ex- pectations warranted byhis last year's performances ; very slack in the field . C. W. Brabant : Amost promising and brilliant bat for his size ; a painstaking and goodfield . B. H. Drury: Thebest bowler of the team,with mediumpace, good length , and considerable spin and break from the off ; has avery pretty style in batting , andcertainly deserves his county colours . G. H. Arundell : A good bat, and fair slow bowler ; rather slack at times . J. C. Milton : One of the best bats in the eleven , with a very pretty andtaking style ; has madehis scores in good form ; a fast bowler of some merit ; an excellent wicket -keep , and a good field ; has played for his county.
