Bather (Capt. 1885-6 ) : Is a really good bat, with splendid strokes ; never does himself justice in matches ; a good field at long -leg and " man-out " ; perfectly sure long -catch . J. P. Wilson (1885-6 ) : Themost useful and reliable bat in the team, though still a somewhat slow scorer , and rather weak on the leg-side ; a moderate field . II. H. Marriott (1885-6) : As a bat, he has lost all his steady play and patience ; he has bowled fairly well towards the end of the season ; a moderate field . F. V. Heath (1885-6 ) : A really good and reliable bowler , with commandof pitch and break ; though still weak, has improved in batting , and is smart in the field . G. W. Thompson (1885-6 ) : Has greatly improved in batting ; very good on leg-side , and a sharp run-getter ; a sharp and energetic field . *E. C. L'Estrange (1885-6 ) : Agood bat ; an excellent field at cover -point , but hardly sharp enough in return . G. S. Porter (1886 ) : A fair bowler on a slow wicket ; a good bat whenhe troubles himself , with good hitting powers ; slow in the field . T. LI. James (1886 ) : Avery good bat, especially on the off -side ; the best wicket- keep Rossall has had for years ; a medium-paced bowler, with a good break- back. *G. M. Chadwick (1886 ) : Areally good bat ; a most promising left -hand
