A. P. Kitcat : As captain , did his best for the eleven ; he is a fine bat, when once set , but too anxious to score quickly at first ; has a fine off -drive ; beautiful field at point . *F. H. Browning : Fair wicket -keeper , but not always to be depended upon ; played one or two good innings , but is not a strong bat . *F. J. Poynton : Probably the best bat in the eleven, with a pretty style , and plenty of hit and defence ; good field . *W. H. Robertson : Slow left -hand bowler, with slight break; keeps a fair length , but should take morepains ; can hit hard, but has no defence . W. I. Rowell (Cap- tain for 1887 ) : Very patient and steady bat ; must learn to play harder ; being a safe field , he was a very useful memberof the eleven . S. B. Prest : A lively bat, scoring fast and in nice style whenonce set ; active field at cover -point . *A. G. Nockolds : Fair fast bowler, but seldom dangerous . *H. M. Barnes : A
