Glass (Capt. 1884-6 ) : On the whole has been very successful ; his unfortunate inability to play against Clifton had a very discouraging effect upon the rest , and maybe regarded as partly answerable for the disastrous result ; bowls fast , with a high action , makingthe balls bumpa good deal ; hard-hitting bat, very useful at times ; too apt to get his leg before the wicket . E. C. Glass (1885-6 ) : A useful bowler, slow medium, not so steady as last year ; as a slow bowler he wants more exer- cise of patience and head-w o r k; batsleft , with a stubborndefence ; does best on a slow wicket. H. B. Champain (1885-6 ) : Avery good bat and fast run- getter , hitting freely all round, but especially strong on the off ; plays very good cricket whenset, but is too anxious to makeruns at the beginning of an innings ; wasmainly instrumental in winning the Marlborough matchwith two really fine innings of 90 and 78 ; a good and safe field at point . *H. M. Blyth (1885-6 ) : Has bowled well through the season ; is straight , andgenerally keeps a good length , occasionally bowling a very good ball ; is a very fair bat, steady , and with good style , and cuts well . P. A. Turner (1885-6 ) : Left -hand bat ; plays in nice style ,but has not come up to the expectations formed of him ; can 1 1
