Price (Capt .) : Plays in good style , and should turn out an excellent bat ; when once set , hits with great vigour , and is a difficult manto get rid of ; made runs in the earlier half of the season , but has hadbad luck in the latter ; a good ground field , and has made avery energetic and popular captain . *E. S. Currey : The prettiest bat in the eleven ; is rather nervous at starting , but whenset is very hard to beat ; has a particularly good stroke off his legs , but must learn not to try it too often ; as a wicket-keeper, has muchimproved, and is a fair change bowler onaslow wicket . L. R. Wilkinson : Fair fast bowler, proving very deadly at times ; has much improved as a bat, his hitting being particularly good ; a good field , with a safe pair ofhands. E. C. Streatfield : Has bowled exceedingly well , but has had bad luck throughout the season ; his bowling requires to be well watched, breaking both waysand varying his pace and pitch with good judgment; has the making of a good bat, andwith more care should get a lot of runs next season . J. B. Hawkins: Areally first -class bat, having a very strong defence combined with great driving powers ; has scored most consistently , and has played several brilliant innings ; fair change bowler ; good field . *H. S. Steele : Bats in taking style , but has hardly fulfilled the expectations formed of him last year ; goodfield ; can take the wicket if necessary . *A. C. Nixon : Agood steady bat, with capital style , but rather too fond of playing straight balls to the on; came off chiefly in the earlier part of the season , but has seldom failed to makea good show; good ground field . W. A. Shaw: A very straight medium-pace bowler, alwayskeepinga goodlength, difficult at times, anddoesnottire easily : his batting , though lacking style , is likely to improve ; good field at slip . *H. J. Carson : Fair bat, his driving being his strong point ; bats very well at the nets , but is rather nervous in matches ; a slow ground field , but good catch . *Α. Μ. Tringham: B y far the most steady bat in the eleven , and has materially helped us by making a good start ; his cutting is especially strong , and he seldom misses one to leg ; not a good judge of a run ; safe catch . H. R.Meyer : A left -handbat, with pretty style , and, as is usual , stronger on the off than the leg side ; likely to improve as a bowler ; slow field , but sure catch .
