H. Cotterill (Capt.) : Has lost nothing of his steady and finished defence , while at the same time he has greatly developed his hitting powers , and scores much faster than last year , his driving being especially hard and clean ; he fields excellently . *S. M. J. Woods : Bats more freely than last year, and has played some excellent innings ; his fast bowling, as his record (78 wkts. for 7.3 runs apiece ) shows, has been more deadly than ever, and will be greatly missed ; his fielding is excellent . G. L. Wilson : Hits veryhard, and even too freely , always scoring tremendously fast ; to perfect his style he must pay more attention to defence ; his bowling is very good, and so is his fielding . N. C. Cooper : Bats in excellent style , with a very straight de- fence ; is learning , too , to hit ; fields very well. T. A. Chalmers : Bats stiffly but strongly , and generally scores whenruns are most wanted; his bowling w a son several occasions rather effective ; fields fairly . W .E. B o n d: H a sthe makingof a goodbat in h i m, but at present lacks coolness and confidence ; fields smartly . C. S. H. Waymouth: Bats carefully , but has not muchpower; wasuseful as a wicket -keeper , and fields very fairly . R. H. Drummond: Has no defence , butcanhit ; fields very well, and can keep wicket . H. D. L. Woods : A very good field ; hits very hard, and with a little more patience and practice m a ymakesomething of a bat; bowls fast , but without muchcontrol over pitch and break. *C. N. Barton : Bats very straight , but somewhatstiffly as yet ; m a ybe expected to improve ; fields fairly , and can bowl a little . F. W. Aste : Bats left hand, and has some pretty strokes , but no steady defence ; is not always reliable in the field ; was useful as a slow bowler . C H A R T E R H O U S E S C H O O L .
