Brain (Clifton and Oriel ) : Afine bat, standing very upright ; drives especially well , with a good stroke off his legs ; a mag- nificent field anywhere, but especially out in the country . E. H. Buckland (Marlborough and N e w) : A very useful cricketer ; dangerous though not sound bat ; good field , and accurate slow bowler. A. R. Cobb (Winchester and N e w) : A fair bat andwicket -keeper ; did exceedingly well in the University matchin both these departments of the game. A. H. J. Cochrane (Repton and Hertford) : On his daya very good fast left -handed bowler ; coming in a lot with his arm; seems to have lost his batting ; fair field . H. T. Hewett (Harrowand Trinity ) : Sometimes a most dashing left -handed hitter , but not at all dependable ; hard -working field . L. D. Hildyard (Private and Magdalen) :Agood bat, and generally gets runs , but jumps about rather too much; beautiful field at point . K. J. Key (Clifton and Oriel ) : A very good bat, gets runs on any wickets , with strong defence , and hitting with great power; played a splendid innings in the University match. H. V. Page (Cheltenham and Wadham) : Batted consistently well in nearly every match; played muchsteadier than in former seasons ; strong defence , and canhit hard; a goodchangem e d i u m-pace bowler; excellent a n d hard-working field ; an energetic captain , and thoroughly deserved his success . W .Rashleigh (Ton- bridge and B.N.C. ) : A thoroughly sound and safe batsman , very difficult to get out ; assisted K e yin a wonderful performance in the University match; rather slow in the field . H. O. Whitby(Private and Lincoln) : A good fast right -handed bowler , sometimes very successful , especially on a dead wicket ; hits hard, and fields tolerably . Pember : A hard-hitting bat, and fair mediumbowler. G. Bowden- Smith : Bats in good style , and is a plucky field . C. H. Dent: Asteady slow bowler ; has improved in batting . C. G. Leveson Gower: A useful slow bowler; did not bat up to his true form. A. K. Watson : Afine bat, with excellent style ; a very good field ; bowls occasionally .
