Fell (Capt.) : Has made a most popular captain ; bats in good form, with great punishing powers whenset ; unfortunate at the beginning of the season ; an erratic but sometimes useful fast bowler. E. B. Waggett : A n excellent bat to go in first ; bats steadily , and very straight ; has scored consistently ; a good field at point or cover . J. F. Haviland : Has improved considerably in batting , is hard to get out, and whenset hits very freely , especially on the off -side ; an invaluable bowler, always straight , and good length ; first -rate field . R. A. Streatfield : Has not played muchthis season owing to his tripos ; a rather uncertain bat ; useful bowler. M. Kinloch : Perhaps the most consistent scorer in the team; plays very hard, and makes runs at a great pace ; a very useful wicket-keep. B. Lee- Smith : Agood bat, buthasnot scored consistently , although he has the highest average ; as a slow bowler with good break he has been of the greatest service ; a very good field . H. R. Miles : A very pretty bat, though a little uncertain ; a really good wicket-keep to slow or mediumbowling. J. B. Barton : A good all -round m a n; bats very straight , with a good defence ; a useful slow bowler with break- back, and a good field . P. Johnson : A good fast bowler on his day; rather inclined to bowl short . H. Wybergh: Bats in good form, though rather uncertain , owing perhaps to nervousness ; a fair bowler and field . H. Mariette : Plays carefully , with a straight bat ; scores slowly , but consistently ; fair field . R. D. Stamer : Hasa taking style , and hits hard ; safe catch in the deep field .
