T w obatsmen of morethan ordinary ability were intro- ducedinto the eleven in the persons of Mr. J. G. Walker, the old Oxonian, and Spillman, a cricketer well knownfor manyyears in the neighbourhood of Lon- don. Inits attack , though , Middlesex was very weak. Thebulk of the bowl- ing wasdone by Burton, West, and Mr. Robertson , and the first -named, who delivered nearly a thousand overs , though rather expensive , was of great use throughout. Twopublic school captains of 1886 were tried in the later matches- to wit, Messrs . M. J. Dauglish , of Harrow, and F. G. J. Ford, of Repton , another of the celebrated brotherhood . The forner, nowat Oxford, is a fair bat as well as a wicket -keeper of promise , and maybe of service to the county. Resultsof M a t c h e s. Matches Played , 10 ; Won, 3 ; Drawn, 3 ; Lost , 4. Club.
