These anticipations were fully realised ; and, indeed , in more than one respect , the match was productive of records without a parallel . Eton, fortunate enough to win the toss , made a very good start , and seven batsmen contributed double figures to their very creditable total of 265. Harrowlost one of its first batsmen (Dent) without a run, but Crawley and Watsonplayed such brilliant cricket that the Harrovians were able to lead their opponentson the first hands.
