A fine batsman, with great driving power ; a brilliant out-field , and equally good near the wicket ; his health did not permit of his playing last season . CHRISTOPHERSON, S. (Uppingham). A good fast bowler ; was very effective at times during the season ; of great use to the County; good field ; moderate bat, with good hitting powers. FOORD-KELCEY, W. (Eton and Oxford ) . A very dangerous bowler , on a queer wicket ; hits freely ; does not play much first -class cricket now. HARRIS, Lord (Eton and Oxford). Oneof the best judges of the game; a fine bat, playing in excellent style and hitting with great freedom ; a fine field , with a very smart return ; played but little last season owing to Parliamentary duties , and later on to an injury to his hand in the Surrey match. JONES, R. S. (Cambridge). A n excellent bat, with great defence ; a good out- field a n dsafe catch. K E M P, M. C. (Harrowand Oxford). A good bat and first -class wicket -keeper ; didnot play for County after the early matches . LIPSCOMB, F. A fast bowler, onhis day very effective ; hits hard at times . MACKINNON, F. A. ( Harrowand Cambridge). A steady and safe bat ; played morethan one fine innings for the County ; moderate field . M A R C H A N T, F. (Eton and Cambridge). Agood bat and field ; has not yet come up to the anticipations formed onhis play while at Eton. PATTERSON, W. H. (Harrowand Oxford). A very fine defensive bat ; good field ; canbowl a little ; was again of the greatest assistance to the County. P E N N, A. A good slow left-hand round-armbowler, with plenty of judgment; improved as a bat ; good field ; did not play for Countylast season . RASHLEIGH, W. W. (Tonbridge) . Promises to be in the first rank of cricketers ; bats with great defence , but mustpaymore attention to fielding ; has gone toO x f o r d. T H O R N T O N, R E V. R. T. (Oxford). Bats in peculiar form,but a difficult wicket toget ; good field ; captained team of Gentlemen in Americaand Canada last September. TONGE, J. N. (Cheltenham ). A very promising player ; a careful bat, with good defence ; a safe field ; should be of assistance to County next season .
