Stack (30.6 ) : By far the best bat in the eleven , certain scorer , and gets his runs quickly ; fair medium-pace bowler ; good field . F. E. Harris (9.7 ) : Very muchimproved in batting ; excellent medium-pace overarm bowler , with good length and break from leg ; good field . A. C. M'Donnell (8.7) : Goodandmuchimproved bat, but unfortunate towards the end of the season ; capital fielder anywhere, especially at slip . R. V. White, Captain (8.3 ) : Verymuchimproved bat, hits more freely than formerly ; good field ; uncertain bowler. J. B. Casement (5.5 ) ; Has come on well in batting , hits well to the off ; should be more attentive in the field ; good catch . A. E. Smith (6) : Fair bat; hits hard, and good field . E. Webb-Bowen, Captain (12.6 ) : Atrying position in 1885 , with very little talent in the school to back himup; hasworkedhard andplayed pluckily , in spite of continued reverses ; first -rate fast overarm bowler, and fair though unlucky bat; good field , though a trifle sleepy . R. Lowis (10.10 ) : Steady bat, with good defence , and fair wicket -keep, though newto the post ; has been of great use to the eleven . W. Lindsay (7.5 ) : Very fair bat, buttoo fond of hitting ; good field , but apt to be lazy ; a good change bowler . C. J. Vernon (10.2 ) : Hardhitter , generally makesruns; good field anywhere. W. Bostock (3.1 ) : H a sthe makingof a cricketer ; fair bat, but too fond of hitting ; good field . K. Pollock : Goodlong -stop ; poor bat ; does not practice enough . R. J. J. Lewis : Steady bat, good defence , butrather too cramped, andrequires more freedom in his hitting ; useful as a change bowler, and a fairfield . TomEdwards: A persevering bat; has played some good innings ; little blind on the leg side ; a moderate field . J. M. Morris : A free bat, with good style ; a good forward player; punishes loose bowling severely ; secured the best average with the bat; a goodmediumfast bowler, andasplendid catch . J. Edwards : A useful all-round m a n, and played in good form; has served consistently throughout the season ; a fast bowler , but sometimes sacrifices pitch for pace ; a thoroughly reliable field , having madesomegood catches at short slip during the season; captain for season 1886. B. D. Jones : Bats with fair style , and hardly fails to score ; was unable this year to give muchtime to practising ; good long -stop , with quick return . E. M. Rowland : Asuccessful changebowler; bats in goodstyle , but is rather uncertain ; afair field in the country , and hasworkedhardthroughout the season. R. L. Jones : Hasplayed somegoodinnings , his cutting being remarkably clean ; should be cautious and play a more defensive game: a very safe field , and can keep wicket whennecessary . E.
