L. Grist , H o n. Sec. (46.2 ) : W a sthe mainstay of the team; batted in splendid form all the season , and neared the century three times . J. G. F. Nicholson (25.2 ) : Showed vast improvement, but is apt to slog whenwell set ; useful at the wicket , or cover-point . G. L. Hanwell (Capt.) : Played one or two stylish innings , but had bad luck ; a splendid out-field . C. F. Finney (13.4 ) : A sound bat, with a pretty cut ; we expect great things of him. W. Ll. Jones (11.7 ) : Is the most correct and patient bat in the team; his defence was invaluable ; fair field . J.R. Smail (6.2) : Hits too much; poor field . H. D. Pitt (4.6 ) : Is weakin batting ; fielded finely at point . J. C. Kynoch (2) :Hasno defence , and hits too rashly ; weakin fielding . L. H.Sitwell (1.1 ) : Shows some little powerof defence , but lacks strength ; fielded fairly well. C L. B. Grover (2) : N o bat; madesome splendid catches at short -slip . J. S. Rhodes (1) : Nevermaderuns ; fielded moderately well. In bowling I. L. Grist (6.9) and C.F. Finney(10.7 ) took 36 and 21 wickets respectively ; former had good pitch andpace. Finneybreaksfromthe off. Prior Park College . Matches played , 11 ; won, 8 ; lost , 2; drawn , 1.- E. Chichester : A most successful captain ; a weak bat, though on one occasion he warded off disaster ; an excellent field , and a fair slow, left -handed bowler. H. Loughnan : Bowlsfast right-hand with a good break from leg ; has muchimproved as a bat; an active andsafe field anywhere. R. Chichester : Agood, but uncertain bat, has agood forward off -stroke , but no back play , and too fond of one stroke ; has kept wicket with success . A. Rostant : Greatly improved as a bat since last year, but suffers muchfrom nervousness ; an active field and safe catch , H. Harold-Barry : A fast right-hand bowlerwith a dangerous break from off ; a good field ; a hard-hitting bat with no defence . W. Harold-Barry : Asound cricketer , his hitting being good, and his defence strong ; madesome good scores , and did useful service as a long -stop. F. Reynolds : A painstaking bat, but has the habit of playing forward at everything , would do well to hit more; a neat field and a reliable catch . L. Langley : Has a fair idea of batting , with goodhitting powers, butsometimes sacrifices his wicket to style ; a good long field , and should be a bowler. H. Routh : A stylish and cool bat, and generally gets runs; a n effective right-handbowler, but sometimes sacrifices pitch to pace; a dashing field and fair catch. R. Lynam: A promising bat, plays straight and hits well ; a goodfield , but inclined to be lazy ; bowls medium round . A. Milner : Aşabat far too stiff and cramped , though hemanages to get runs , will improve with practice ; a smart field in the country . J. Barry : Only tried at the end of the season , and under the circumstances did remark- ably well, especially in the fielding . RoyalNavalSchool.-W. H. Paterson (Captain ) : Has batted excellently throughout the season, andhas madethe highest average of runs; is the best bowler in the team, and athoroughly good field . H. F. Paterson : Has steadily improved since the beginning of the season and is now a steady bat; his long -stopping has been of great service to the team. W. K. Johnson : Batted well at the endof the season, but wants more confidence ; fair wicket-keep. F. H. Evans : Agreat deal too fond of hitting , otherwise a fair bat; agood change bowler . C. W. Pollard : Afast run-getter , and with more practice mightmakea cricketer . H. N. Tuck : Asteady bat; might score quicker if he tried . F. C. Lodge : Areliable bat, and good fielder ; promises to be a good cricketer next year . J. G. Moresby : A fair bat. S. Comber: A pretty bat; promises to bea good cricketer . C. RoosmaleCocq: H a sbattedwell at times. T. Somers: Afair bat.
