J. Westhorp (18.1 ): A nexcellent bowler, always to be relied on; neat andquick field , andabatsman whosepluck, watchfulness andjudgmentwill always secure ahigh average . F. J. Barter (12.10) : Bats in free and commandingstyle , and with a fair share of success ; a steady bowlerb u tnotoftendifficult ; verygoodfield,but out of his elementas wicket-keeper. D. Tulloch (2.7) : Very fair bowler , difficult at times , but a little inclined to bowl short ; pretty safe in the field except whensurprised by a sharp catch ; mustbat with morenerve ; w ehopeto see a better average next year. F. W. Turner (5.10 ) : Hasgood defence and uses it too ; avery plucky andhard-working field ; should be very useful next year. H. W . Grimwade(4.2 ) : Hits out well , buthas not a strong defence ; useful in the field , being agood catch . J. Quain (3.11 ) : Promising batsman, whoif he really tries should be very goodnext year; fields neatly too. G. Bedford :A good bat; plays sound andpretty cricket ; fairly smart field at cover-point ; captain for 1886. H. P. Hannay: A good punisher of bad bowling, with fine driving powers, though butmoderate defence ; a very safe catch and fair bowler. A. E. Passman : A very good all-round m a n; by far the best bat in the eleven, combining fine hitting powers with good defence ; also agood fast bowler attimes andgood field anywhere. A. Hepburn : Fell off as a bat fromlast season; was not so successful behind the wickets as it washopedhewould be. N. G. Whitby : Goodmedium- paced overhand bowler . but very uncertain as abat ; poor field . E. E. Edlmann : Ade- cidedly promising bat, but is rather apt to runawayfromhis wicket; should be very good next season with practice ; good field . W. H. Rollason : Avery hard hitter , but has not m u c hdefence; thoroughly reliable field . J. S. Dallas : Ahard hitter , but too often neglects his defence to practice hitting ; very slow in the field .
