Poole : Very useful all -round m a n; capital batting style , wanting only alittle *moreresolute hitting power. J. Barker : At times maderuns in a rough but effective style ; fair catch at short slip . H. Meyer: Withperseverance a very fair all-round player ; too fond of a wild hit ; fair field , andgot a lot of wickets against weaker teams, but was expensive against resolute hitters ; fair field and catch . E. H. Grove (prize bat for fielding ): Fell off in his batting ; hada resolute defence , but took to hitting ; had bad days, but as a rule one of the best boy long -stops wehave ever seen . G. B. Robinson : Took the bat for bowling , and at times was very useful ; disappointing in his batting owing to wantof confidence andpluck; goodcatch . A. Hingley ; Fair point : canhit well at times ; canbowl a little ; took the second bat for fielding . E. Foley : Has a pretty style of batting ; but failed to makeruns ; excellent field : bowls fast underhand. R. Green : Fair field ; no bat. S. S. Somers : Too small to makeruns ; worked hard in the field ,butnot as sure a catch as most of the team. J. T.H. Parish : Youngand promising ; fielded very well at first , but is apt to becomeslack . F. Williams (12th m a n): Showed that hecould defend his wicket well , and with a straight bat ; improved a good deal in his fielding ; would become a good player if he cared for the game. H a r l o wCollege.-Matches played , 11 ; won, 7 ; lost , 4.-THE ELEVEN IN 1885.-C. C. Payne : Made an excellent captain ; good bat ; hard hitter on the off ; good field andfair fast bowler. T. S. Toolis : Goodand plucky bat; greatly improved since last season ; fair field and good change bowler . H. A. Steel : Good and pretty bat, not muchhitting power; fair field , and very good bowler. W. Yolland Nice bat, hitting hardbothsides ; excellent field , andfair change bowler. J. R. P. Smith : Greatly im- proved bat; very good long-stop . G. A. DeBelin : Goodbat; very good field , withquick return ; promising bowler . P. W. Wood : Moderate bat, and good out field ; promising
