Hiley , Captain (29.7 ) : Steady bat, with patient defence ; until well set confines his attention to cutting and leg-hitting ; has played somevery good innings in the season ; a smart field at cover point . R. T. D. Budworth (24.8) : Freebat, whohits hard; has improved in his defence this season ; a good field ; hasbowled occasionally . J. R. Atkin (22.3 ) : Free-hitting bat, who sadly lacks practice ; wouldgive a good account of himself if he wouldwait till set before trying to materially augmenthescore ; a goodandquickfield , w h odid goodservice atthe wickets. R. Carrow (16) : Played lively cricket ; maypossibly develop into a good bat with care ; the long-stop of the eleven , who fielded neatly and well throughout the season . Evans(12.5): H a sa crampedstyle of defence, is fondof a drive, butdoes notkeeptheball downenough; a fair field ; changebowler. J. T. Williams ( 11.4 ) : Thehard-working fast bowler of the eleven ; apt to over-bowl himself and sacrifices pitch to pace ; an excellent field andarun-getting bat, with weakdefence . M. F. Thomas (10.1 ) ; Steady bat, but not sufficiently straight , plays round the ball too much; slow in the field . R. A. Lewis (9.7 ) : Verystraight and steady slow bowler, with good length ; a good field at slip ; steady and improving bat, who plays in very good style . H. B. T. Morgan (7) : Steady and patient bat, whogoes in first , wouldbe difficult to get out if he did not have occasional relapses into rustic cricket ; a very sharp field at point . C. E. Budworth (6.9 ) : Moderate bat, who would improve with experience ; a goodfield at mid-off , and change bowler. H. V. Phillips (6.8 ) : Asteady player, whose average is hardly a fair test of his merits , as hewent in first andhadto receive the best of the bowling ; his innings were always useful though notshowy; ratherslowin the field andbetweenwickets.
