Hurst : Captained the eleven with energy and excellent judgment; a sound and steady bat ; a painstaking andvery effective bowler. C. Gibson : Started the season unluckily , andnever quite recovered his form; fielded brilliantly at cover point , and rendered some good service with the ball . C. A. Sherring : Areally sound and good cricketer ; scored consistently all through the season ; takes long-leg very well ; a powerful thrower. A. L. Fevez : A free and plucky bat, but his insuperable tendency to hit on first going in renders his life at the wicket uncertain ; good fast bowler a n dexcellent point . H. Harrison : Improved wonderfully on his last year's form, batting with muchmore power ; bowled most successfully towards the close of the season ; a safe catch , either at point or in the deep field . W. R. Moon: Was the mainstay of the eleven throughout the season , always making
