E. W. Markham: A really good bat ; should with care become a first -rate batsman; has a good defence ; hits well and strongly all round, but especially on the off -side ; has the best average ; at times fields bril- liantly . *A. Parker : A very useful man ; bats in no style , but can hit and make runs when wanted ; a fast and useful bowler ; has made some good catches in the deep field . * W. R. Collins : A good bat and bowler ; has a fair defence ; cuts andhits well all round, but is in muchtoo great a hurry to make runs at starting ; his fast bowling has been most useful as a change ; good ground field , butapt to drop a catch . B. M. N. Perkins : A good and most successful slow left-handbowler, but wouldhavebeen still moresuccessful if he k n e wh o wto field to his ownbowling ; poor bat and field . *A. L. V. Wood: Gained his place inthe eleven moreby his fielding than by his batting ; batted well in one match, butfielded well all through the season ; never missed a catch in the deep field.. *C. Philcox : A very promising bat and bowler ; bats in nice style , but has been very unfortunate this year ; bowls slow right hand, and when he has had a wicket to suit himhas been most effective ; a fair field at point . R. H. Pitcairn : Apoor bat and a moderate field ; has bowled at times , but without much success . A. W. Fox: Should develop into a good cricketer ; bats in good form and cuts well, but must learn to play back ; is a good field at cover point . *A. D. Hanbury : A painstaking bat, but fell off greatly towards the end of the season ; a moderate change bowler ; a slow field . J. M. Watson : Only played inthe last few matches, but thoroughly earned his place in the team ; is a very good right-handbowler, coming quick off the pitch and breaking both ways; a goodandmostdetermined bat; fields well anywhere.
