P. C. Ash (Captain 1886) : Has rather weak defence , but w h e nset hits finely to all parts of the field ; has kept wicket , not without mistakes ; is apt to lose heart . W. E. Pryce Jones : Has got rid of a good m a n yfaults , and plays strongly , with a pretty style ; a most uncertain bowler (fast),butdifficult on his day; a good field . H. Baldwin : Plays hard, though often not straight ; has m a d eruns w h e nmost wanted; a brilliant though rather uncertain field . R. Saville : Plays with too muchflourish , anddoes not sight the ball well ; has at times bowled extremely well (slow ), but is nervous ; lacks smartness in the field . F. O. Keysell : A patient and useful bat, with good defence ; has bowled successfully (medium) ; a painstaking but clumsy field . A. R. Brook : Hasgood defence and leg -hitting powers, with a cramped style ; a plucky and improving field . P. Simpson : Afair bowler (medium), getting considerable work on the ball , but without much variety of pace or pitch ; is eager and fields well ; very likely make a bat. F. M. Aston : Can hit, buthas little defence ; a useful but somewhaterratic change bowler (fast ); a very good field . F. Cobbett : A pretty and fairly correct bat, without much dash or power ; a plucky and improving field , but not nearly keen enough on the game. E.
