James Lillywhite's Cricketers' Annual 1886
P R E F A . THE incorporation of " James Lillywhite's Companion," the time- honoured record known, in its green cover , to generations of cricketers , marks a new era in the career of the CRICKETERS' ANNUAL. Thoughm u c hthe younger of the two books which have borne the name of Lillywhite , the increasing popularity of the latter has stamped it unmistakeably now for some years as the most successful of all the publications devoted to cricket . Its latest de- velopment , the fusion of the " Companion," as we are fully sensible , entails newandadditional responsibilities . It will be our aim in the future to combine as m u c has possible the chief features which have contributed to the success of each of the two Lillywhites in the past . We are sincerely grateful , for ourselves , for the kindly help wehave received from all classes of cricketers . A continuance of this assistance we respectfully solicit . Any particulars of interest or suggestions will be welcomed. Forms for the insertion of statistics can be obtained at any time on application to the Proprietors , at 2, 4, and 6, Newington Causeway, London, S.E.
